Wanna know more about India?


The Maulana Azad Centre for Indian Culture (MACIC), in cooperation with Egypt-India Friendship Association, is organizing a lecture titled "Down Memory Lane-The India I Know" by Mr. Mursi Saad El-Din, Editor-in-Chief of Egypt Today magazine on Sunday, 18 April 2010 at 6 p.m, at the Centre's premises at 23, Talaat Harb St., Downtown, Cairo.

Both as an eminent journalist and a senior civil servant Dr Mursi is familiar with India and Indians. His career began as a journalist with the Egyptian Gazette, after which he was appointed as Secretary of the Egyptian Institute in UK for 12 years. In London, he took to reviewing English language titles. His book reviews used to appear frequently in the local press making him one of the most prolific book reviewers of his time. He was the first cultural attaché to be posted to an Egyptian embassy, the first translator of contemporary English literature into Arabic, the first official spokesman of late President Anwar Sadat, the first director of the Egyptian State Information Service. He was also founder of the Afro-Asian Pen Club, a prolific author of children's books and a respected columnist of 'Al-Ahram'. His TV programme 'Open Forum' was a trend setter in Egypt. At 85 years, he continues to actively write in the press.

H.E Dr Ali El Din Hilal, President, Egypt India Friendship Association and H.E Ambassador of India R Swaminathan will speak on the occasion. All are cordially invited.
